Menies beach a nice surprise on Rodopos Peninsula (or Rodopou)

Menies or Diktynna is located 45km northwest of Chania, on the northeast shores of Peninsula Rodopos and at the exit of Foundas Gorge, by the end of a very long and dusty road that passes through olive groves and rocky mountains.

It is one of the most secluded beaches with pebbles and deep crystal blue waters in lovely Crete. It is not affected by the usual winds blowing in the area and is ideal for isolation, far away from the urban centers. For many kilometers, nothing reminds you of modern civilization, so ensure you have all the essentials. 

Access to the beach of Menies is a bit tedious, as you have to drive in a long dirt track (about 23km) starting from Rodopos village. This road heads on the beach but is not recommended for low cars. Moreover, some small boats are running to Menies from Platanias harbor. 

Menies is a beach you can rarely find today, a quiet, clean, and relaxing patch of sand in front of a beautiful bay with clear, blue water. 

There are no umbrellas, no sunbeds, no restaurants, and barely any visitors. 

 All other beaches in Chania seemed crowded and noisy after seeing Menies.
